It was a busy weekend - Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October - as Shuhari-Kai squad members Alex & Aimee Sell attended the first English Karate Federation training and selections for the forthcoming 5th WKF Junior & Cadet
Championships. With Aimee only 12 years old and Alex still only 15, both were too young to select for the England squad but both worked hard during the training session and stayed until the end to watch the full selection. Sunday saw them both joined by Lawrence Grosvenor
as they attended the Wadokai England open squad training session held in Walsall. Aimee concentrated on the Kata training perfecting her Wado Katas whilst Lawrence and Alex took part in the Kumite training under the watchful eyes Wadokai England squad coach Winston
Williams.
Meanwhile, the rest of Shuhari-Kai attended the annual weekend training camp held at Seashore Holiday Park in Clacton. Everybody arrived some time during Friday evening taking a little longer than expected due to A12 being closed.
Fortunately the caravans were lovely, well equipped, clean and with most of them fitted with radiators so none of the occupants were cold.
Training started as usual on Saturday at 9.00am sharp. The hall had been cleaned and cleared of all chairs and tables which gave everyone a large area to work in. The training started with line work which was then followed by Kata training. Some students then
took their grade. As usual swimming and/or crazy golf followed the training with an evening meal out and night time entertainment in the club.
Day 2 and it was back to training at 9.00am again through to 2.00pm. Swords were being practised along with more Kata's, blocks and line work with some additional gradings taking place.
A great weekend was had by all, the weather was lovely, caravans clean and lovely, atmosphere fantastic.
