Karate England Unanswered Questions...

Since last week Sport England are supposedly in dialogue with Karate England but, as yet, there has been no communication received by the associations. Just rumours and innuendos go on with a wealth of emails and texts between interested parties still trying to gain some of the answers to many outstanding questions. What Shuhari-Kai would like to know is: ...

  • Why have there still been no minutes published for meetings held?
  • Who, (if any...) were the counter signatories for expenditure?
  • Why has there been no official communications to the members?
  • Why have I had GKR knocking on my door telling me to join as they are now in charge of NAKMAS and are the official governing body?
  • As Nick Halafihi had previous positions as CEO (Hull Kingston Rovers), why was it necessary for him to have his garage converted to office use for Karate England this time and how could anyone possibly claim 3 years travel expenses up front?
  • What exactly did the Marketing Director do to market KE apart from a few photos and website that cost approx. £40,000?
  • Why did Sport England take a hands-off approach and let KE self destruct?
  • How much (if any...) of the Whole Sport Plan was implemented because there's been no evidence of it at grass roots level?
  • Why did NAKMAS not register a single member out of there acclaimed 32,592 after receiving a massive 130 association votes (figures from POW POW Sports)?
  • Are NAKMAS still liable for registration monies owed in that case?
  • So KE had a CEO, a Chairman President, two Vice Chairmen Presidents, a Technical Chairman, a Technical Vice Chairman - why was it so top heavy?
  • Why did the planned AGM in November get cancelled?
  • Is the licensing money still going to KE which has current debts of approx £230,000?
  • Did KE have any accountants and where are the treasure's reports?

We were promised an open and transparent governing body. We were promised a structured and unified governing body. What we got was a closed, self indulgent and divided body who failed to govern. I have no faith in the current governing body (whoever they are at present). Karate England is a laughing stock at the moment. Lets get rid of this stigma, we now need to band together and get behind a leading figure and get KE back on track. Remember what Karate is all about, some people have seriously lost their way.
