EKKA East England Championships

Two Students travelled to Ipswich on Sunday 16th September 2007, to represent Shuhari-Kai Karate Club at the East of England Championships hosted by E.K.K.A.

First up was Callum Alboni. Callum entered the mixed junior Kata 6th to 4th Kyu grade; unfortunately Callum missed out on a medal by 0.3 points as they were only giving one 3rd place medals.

Jodie was next; in the mixed junior Dan grade section; she decided to give this competition a try after being out for so long due to injury. Jodie decided to perform a safe Bassai –Dai and scored 21.6, which put her in 1st place with a 1.2 lead ahead of the nearest score, well done Jodie.

Callum was then back in action with Kumite, Callum’s section was a round robin but he was not lucky enough to keep the score on his side, as his kicks were not scored as the referee’s thought they were too low, but he did get the bronze medal for his efforts, well done Callum.

Results; 1 Gold, 1 Bronze

Squad; Callum Alboni, Jodie Miles
