There were two Shuhari-Kai who participated in the Kata events of the AMA International Open held on Saturday 24th February 2007, siblings Aimee and Alex Sell. The Kumite
events which were being held on Sunday had to forsaken as a special course had been previously booked.
Aimee Sell competed in the Girls 10-11yrs, 3-1st Kyu category with 19 participants in her event. Aimee received a 1st round bye and then performed Bassai-Dai in the 2nd round and won the match 3 flags to 0. The 3rd round saw Aimee
perform Seienchin Kata but dropped a flag winning the match 2 flags to 1. The semi-final saw Aimee beaten by an Iranian girls as Aimee's Nipaipo lost out 2 flags to 1. Aimee progressed into the repechage final and performed Annan Kata winning 2 flags to 1 to settle for
Bronze on this occasion.
Alex Sell competed in the Boys 14-15yrs Dan Grade category. After receiving a 1st round bye, Alex's next opponent was a 'no show' putting him straight into the quarter finals. Alex finally entered into this event with an opening
Kata display of Annan which secured his place into the next round as he beat his Egyptian opponent 3 flags to 0. The Semi-final saw Alex perform Chatanyara Kushanku Kata which also won 3 flags to 0 earning him a place in the final. After the repechage rounds had completed the
final commenced. Alex performed Suparimpei but lost out to his Egyptian opponent 2 flags to 1 settling for Silver.
