Cream of the Crop at Southern Region Selections    Alex Sell from Shuhari-Kai Karate Club and Robert Clark from Grays & Rainham Ishinryu, both pictured here collecting their runners-up certificates at this years Havering Sports Council Awards, have been selected to represent Southern England in the forth coming National Regional Team Championships. The Championships are being held at Ponds Forge Sports Centre in Sheffield on Saturday 12th March and they will be competing against teams from the other two England Regions; Northern and Midlands.   The boys, along with James Witt from England Karate Kan and Hyogendo's Ben Coward who complete the team line-up, represent the cream of the crop in the boys 12-13 year old section. They were all chosen following the selections held in Twickenham last Sunday and on past performances and results. Both Alex Sell and James Witt have already represented Southern England Region in the Venice Cup Tournament held last December in Italy where both Alex and James came home with Gold medals for the squad.   This is the first National Regional Championships for children to be staged and they hold the esteem of representing the largest area of the three regions within England. The Southern region encompasses the following areas:   South West: Bath & North East Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Isles of Scilly, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay, Wiltshire.   South East: Berkshire, Bracknell Forest, Brighton & Hove, Buckinhamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Medway, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Slough, Windsor & Maidenhead, Portsmouth, Reading, Southampton, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, West Berkshire, Wokingham.   London: All London Boroughs.   We wish the boys all the best in the championships and know they will do their squad proud.
