OCTOBER CAMP - THE ORCHARDS, ST. OSYTH, CLACTON

Day 1

After an eventful journey to Clacton, everyone settled into their caravans nicely.

Saturday morning saw 24 students turn up for training. It started with sensei Richard Burridge taking the high grades and doing blocks, while sempai Ron Bruce took the low grades and went through their grade with them. After a time the groups rejoined, Danny Bruce and Lawrence Grosvenor took it in turns to take the group, showing them a number of fighting techniques.

The swords and nunchaku’s were next, foam ones were used so that the students weren’t hurt, this was a fun event and enjoyed by all.

Time for a well earned break, then onto kata, by this time some other holiday makers had arrived and decided to watch, they seemed very impressed with the displays of kata. It was now time to pack up for the day, so most of the student’s ended up in the swimming pool, and then into the bar for some light refreshments.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2

There was an early start today due to a birthday party being held in the same hall. It started with sensei Richard Burridge and sempai Ron Bruce taking the students through line work and combinations then onto Danny and Lawrence doing some more fine fighting techniques.

After a short break it was fun time, first off it was team fighting all students were split into four groups, one at a time they fought the opposition eventually J.J’s team one but only by a few points it was very close. Up next was the old favorite ‘Sumo’. Working through the students it ended up with Jodie versus J.J. Unlucky for Jodie, J.J just picked her up and placed her out the ring.

Time for group photos and bowing out. After a pet talk from sensei, and eventually bowing out Gary Page thanked sensei Richard Burridge, sempai Ron Bruce, Danny Bruce and Lawrence Grosvenor for a wonderful weekend, then Billie, Jade, Jodie, and Sophie presented each teacher with a signed card and gift.
