Wado-Kai England Open On Sunday 11th May, a small squad of 12 attended the Wado-kai England Open in Reading. The competition was extremely tough and large with over 800 competitors taking part. Every one who took part performed well on the day and if some dubious refereeing decisions had not gone against us, we would have come home with a lot more trophies.     Three squad members competed in the same Kata event, Sam Gee who narrowly missed out progressing to the third round, Vishaal Dovedi who was knocked out in round three on a split decision and Aimee Sell who took third place overall. Aimee went on to secure another third place in her Kumite event bring her trophy tally to two. Well done Aimee.     Jodie Miles secured the silver in her Kata event with her final Kata 'Jion' being beaten on split decision by a dubious execution of 'Pinan Sandan'!!! (did I mention dubious decisions?). Jodie went on to claim runner-up spot in her Kumite event, narrowly losing in the final after injuring her leg. Well done to Jodie.   Alex Sell and Claire Page both managed to get disqualified from their Kumite events (oh yes, dubious decisions again) whilst the remainder of the squad were eliminated during the rounds in both Kata and Kumite.    Overall, the squad took 2 Silver and 2 Bronze trophies home. Although not everyone won something, the squad pulled together fantastically supporting each other whenever the opportunity allowed. Well done to every one who competed.    Squad: Alex Groves, Sammy Burridge, Claire Page, Wayne Burridge, JJ Burridge, Abigail Gee, Samuel Gee, Alex Sell, Jodie Miles, Sophie Roberts, Vishaal Dovedi and Aimee Sell.
