Leon Walters - Return of the Champ.

Leon Walters made the return trip to Shuhari-Kai Karate Club on Sunday 7th September 2003. Leon, accompanied by Jo Long, gave the students a thorough workout as they made their preparations for the forth-coming EKGB National Championships. Fresh from his exploits at the Commonwealth Karate Championships the week before, Leon showed no ill-affects from the injury he picked up that forced him to retire from the individual Kumite event. That scuppered his chances of adding another Commonwealth Gold medal to the team Gold he picked up at the event.  After an almost exhaustive  warm-up session at the Harold Hill Dojo, Leon led the students into technique drills, explaining and demonstrating the purpose and execution of the technique on his accomplice Jo. The session, which was attended by a few students from other clubs, brought out the talent in the students as they worked hard to perfect Leon's techniques. At the end of the session, Leon picked out two students who he felt could one day be representing England, Jodie Miles from Shuhari-Kai and guest student James Cornish. Both students were presented with a gift, Jodie received a pair of Mitts, whilst James has a new GI to train in.

The students once again appreciated Leon for taking the time to help them in perfecting their Kumite techniques and Shuhari-Kai would like to thank both Leon Walters and Jo Long for making the trip to Havering.
